22. Seevl

Seevl is one of the many islands of the Dream Archipelago, and imaginary group of 1000s of islands on an alternative Earthlike world, trying to avoid being squashed between two warring superpowers. Christopher Priest has featured this island and world in many of his books and stories... They are all extremely enjoyable and he rightly won the BSFA best novel award for 'The Islanders', in 2011...

His blog is HERE.

I personally believe the majority of his novels will end up being connected. Read them ALL and make up your own mind.

Christopher Priest and the Seevl travel poster

The posters I have illustrated in this range are in the most part based on locations from within books I love. This particular location, the island of Seevl, is no exception. What makes this poster a little different from the others in the series is that it advertises travel to a location in fiction which may well be revisited by the author in the future... Christopher Priest is still writing stories which somehow involve the Dream Archipelago and its curious islands - and I presume there is a possibility that the dark towers of Seevl may turn up again...

I felt a little unusual after making this design, rather like some sort of fan fiction writer. Given how much I enjoy the source books, I thought I better send my effort to the author and gauge whether he disapproved of my wanderings in his created world(s?)

It seems he didn't mind too much, and here is a picture with him next to a framed print to prove it. He has written some nice words on his blog about the print too, which I appreciate very much.
